How Can Learning Jazz Improve the level of a classical musician, Mozart learned improvisation
"… Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt all excelled in improvisation, which was then called … Improvisation "
Classical music is a sophisticated art to speak for actions (and even less for the musicians) is frowned upon. But in jazz, is very common for the audience to talk with the musicians during presentations as a way complement their skills in improvisation.
Elements of jazz can be found in the Gospel, country, pop, R & B, film scores and other musical forms. However, when the average person uses the word "jazz" can not understand the culture or language.
Many people associate with improvisation Jazz and vice versa. However, improvisation is an integral part of the history of classical music from medieval Gregorian chant. These songs use melodies more above the cantus firmus (fixed melody in Latin), which were improvised by medieval musicians to glorify God. In subsequent periods, improvisation was used for events outside the churches. JS Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, and Liszt all excelled in improvisation, improvisation was then called. Bartok "Mikrokosmos" were originally improvised as Beethoven's famous notebooks (later used in the formal procedure).
Near the beginning 20th century, improvisation disappeared in the romantic period began as the control of the interpreters of works by composers note for note, the art of improvisation finally lost. Schubert Impromptus, Contrary to its title, were not improvised but written in an orderly manner. Playing classical music is a skill it requires discipline and talent, but the same goes for jazz. Both use the same musical alphabet, but somehow have managed to create different classifications for each, respectively.
Historically, jazz has not been associated with higher education. However, the great Scott Joplin, a composer of African-American jazz late 19th to the 20th century, took formal lessons with a teacher born in Germany, performers of classical piano and Creole from New Orleans were often trained at the Paris Conservatoire.
Classical music and jazz are disciplines that require creativity. The classical musician, having mastered the techniques to interpret the score and translate the written notes to life in a show. The challenge of a jazz musician is to be used simultaneously both the talent of improvisation and technology necessary to perform the music not planned for a live audience. To make an analogy, a classical musician is like an actor with a complete script – Having to memorize and master, while the character to life. A jazz musician is like an actor without a script, only some guidelines to follow, being in charge of creating dialogue and making instantaneous nature. In its purest essence, the technology must be controlled. One could argue that the task of learning and memorization of a sonata (pages 15-60) or in concert (often exceeding 100 pages) is a phenomenal task! The best musicians of classical and jazz should be both skilled in the art, but more difficult for them to increase their experience in a program to move its audience emotionally. All musicians must play to your heart that really affect your audience significantly.
Recently, the Conservatory of Canada has introduced a new category review the implementation of the languages of jazz styles and nomenclature. The Royal Conservatory has been used for many years a popular curriculum of their choice. In addition to the above programs taught Jazz Studies at Juilliard, Ivy League schools have also shown their support, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford and Berkeley offers apply now or jazz programs. These institutions have adopted a novel approach combines classical and jazz education.
We can not pretend that art is a more or less sophisticated than others. The classical musicians do not fully understand the culture of jazz and jazz musicians can not fully interpret the classical culture. However, because music is a universal language, an understanding of its various forms and dialects are beneficial. These new musicians 'bilingual' are able to communicate better with their audience in various ways. Following the same education "early" concept used for the languages we have spoken educate children in both classical and jazz music. Children who study classical music and jazz, while being able to understand both cultures and make realize their full musical potential.
